Welcome to the UMS-Wright Parents’ Association (PA) page! As a parent, you are automatically a member of the PA, the largest volunteer organization at UMS-Wright. The PA is run entirely by volunteers, and there is no fee to be a member. The PA is your “link” to getting involved in your child’s school and education. PA members serve as room mothers, grade representatives, committee chairpersons, and committee members.
The PA has two main goals:
1)To raise money and
2)To promote an engaged school community, school spirit, and healthy relationships among the students, faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees.
Money raised through PA events is used to purchase large “wish list” items that are not covered by tuition or the Wright Fund (previously known as the Annual Fund). These items include smart boards, technology carts, curriculum enhancements (such as STEM), athletic equipment, playground upgrades, computer desks, the electronic announcement board on the stadium fence, and many more! We host four major fundraisers: Dawgs on the Hunt Clay Shoot, Bulldog Run, Walk the Dawg, and the Spring Party/Silent Auction. In any given year, the PA raises between $90,000 and $120,000!
The PA is the liaison between parents and the UMS-Wright faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Trustees. Our members lead a variety of committees and events that help foster a sense of community and school spirit. Parent volunteers lead the Used Uniform Sale, Box Tops for Education, Book Fair, Recycling, Open House, Homecoming, smART Art Committee, Library Committee, Teacher Appreciation, Beautification, Hospitality, and others. In addition, the PA hosts quarterly lunch meetings to update parents (and grandparents) on current and upcoming school events.
The key to the PA’s success is two-fold: the dedication and involvement of countless parents who unselfishly donate their time and talents and the generous sponsors and donors who continue to give year after year. We encourage parents to volunteer whatever time or services they can provide to support the best possible environment for every UMS-Wright student. Volunteering allows parents to be on campus, stay informed, meet other parents, and be a part of the UMS-Wright family. No amount of time you can contribute is too little. For more information on how to become involved in any of the committees, fundraisers, or events listed above, please click on the links to the right or contact me directly.
Thank you to all of our past, current, and future volunteers for believing in our school and supporting our mission to educate all of our students to their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit!
